Police seek assistance in locating wanted individual

Members of the East Region Community Street Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is looking for the public’s assistance in locating a wanted individual.

Over the past few months, the OPP has investigated multiple break-ins, vehicle thefts and other property related crimes.

On Oct. 10, 2023, a vehicle was taken from a residence on Highway 41 in Addington Highlands. Officers located the vehicle and arrested one individual at the scene. Two other occupants fled the scene. With the assistance of the East Region Emergency Response Team, one was arrested.

The OPP is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the third person.

Tanner Sweet is 29 years old and described as 185 lbs (84 kgs), approximately 6’3″ (191 cms), with a thin build, brown hair and brown eyes. Sweet has a neck tattoo of “SWEET”.

An arrest warrant has been issued for more than two dozen Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences, including:

  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

Members of the public are asked not to approach Tanner Sweet. Investigators are encouraging Sweet to contact a local OPP detachment and speak with officers.
