Police report: motorcycle rider suffers serious injuries in collision

The Lennox and Addington OPP are investigating a collision that occurred on Centre Street just south of Jim Kimmett Blvd in Greater Napanee in which one person suffered injuries.

Officers responded to the area on May 11 just after 7 p.m. for a report of a collision between a motorcycle and a motor vehicle.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries at the time of the incident but is now in stable condition. The driver of the motor vehicle was not injured.

The collision remains under investigation at this time. Police are seeking anyone that may have witnessed the collision to call the L&A County Detachment at 613-354-3369.

  • Also on May 11, at approximately 2 p.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in Amherstview.

Police received calls of a vehicle hitting two vehicles and a garbage dumpster. Officers located the vehicle and driver at a residence in Amherstview. Officers spoke to the driver and observed them to be showing signs of impairment.

As a result of an investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 35-year-old of Loyalist Township, with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Dangerous operation
  • Fail to remain

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on June 6, 2023. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

-On May 11 at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver leaving a local restaurant in Greater Napanee.

Officers located the vehicle and determined that the driver was showing signs of impairment and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for processing.

As a result of an investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 56-year-old of Shannonville, with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on June 6, 2023. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days.
