Police recover stolen vehicle, suspect arrested

At approximately 12 p.m. on Aug. 7,  officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to reports of a stolen vehicle potentially travelling Eastbound on Highway 401 heading towards L&A County. The suspect vehicle was reported stolen to Toronto Police a few hours earlier.

Officers observed the vehicle travelling Eastbound on Hwy 401 at Palace Road. Officers followed the suspect vehicle where it exited at the Odessa On route. The suspect vehicle was blocked in by multiple police vehicles at the On route. The lone male driver was arrested without incident at approximately 2 p.m.

As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 37-year-old of Vaudreull-Dorion, QC, with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possessing automobile master key
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine

The accused was held for a bail hearing and released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on a later date.

-Officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP have charged a male driver with impaired driving.

On Aug. 7  at approximately 10:45 p.m., L&A OPP received a call about a vehicle stuck in the ditch by a residence driveway on Millhaven Road in Loyalist Township . Officers located the vehicle and driver and determined that the male driver of the vehicle was showing signs of impairment and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported back to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 62-year-old of Loyalist Township, with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on August 29, 2023. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
