Police recover stolen vehicle in Greater Napanee, canine unit tracks suspects after an attempt to flee

On Jan 12 at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a stolen vehicle that had exited Hwy 401 Westbound at Palace Road in Greater Napanee.

L&A County OPP officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Bridge Street West in Greater Napanee. The vehicle and the two occupants failed to stop and fled in the vehicle. Police located the vehicle, abandoned on Slash Road. The OPP Canine Unit and the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) were called in. Police located and arrested two individuals.

As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP has charged a 54-year-old of Kingston with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Flight from police
  • Possession of break in instruments
  • Fail to comply with undertaking

The accused was also charged with Driving Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He appeared for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on January 12.

Also charged is a 47-year-old of no fixed address, contrary to the Criminal Code with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
