Police charge man with driving wrong way on Hwy 401

On June 29 at approximately 1:30 a.m. officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Hwy 401 Eastbound just west of the Camden East exit.

Investigation revealed that the vehicle was travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes at a high rate of speed when it lost control and collided with a guard rail. The lone occupant was uninjured. Police arrested the driver and transported him to detachment for a Drug Recognition Expert officer to conduct further testing. As a result of the investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 30-year-old man of Toronto with

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;

And further contrary to the highway traffic act with

  • Stunt Driving,
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Fail to surrender insurance card

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Sept. 1. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

-On June 27 at approximately 8:30 p.m. officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of an erratic driver. The vehicle was southbound on Hwy 41 North of Northbrook.

Police initiated a traffic stop on the same vehicle on Gun Club Road and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing. As a result of the investigation, L&A County OPP have charged a 30-year-old man of Picton with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs; and
  • Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Aug. 25. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
