Police charge Belleville man with impaired driving

On Dec. 5 at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP observed a vehicle travelling westbound at a high rate of speed on Highway 401 in Greater Napanee.

Police stopped the vehicle and the driver was showing signs of alcohol consumption. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was administered and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

L&A County OPP have charged  a 25-year-old of Belleville contrary to the criminal code with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and;
  • Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Feb. 9, 2021. The accused persons licence was suspended and the vehicle was impounded for seven days
