Playoff bound Stars win final exhibition tune-ups

The Napanee U18 Stars defeated Tweed 3-1 in exhibition play as a warm-up to the OMHA Playoff Weekend starting Friday in Barrie.

Napanee, the winner of Tier 1 was facing the winner of Tier 2 playoffs- Tweed. They started slowly, allowing a goal to a team they had tied twice in league play. They scored twice late in the first from the sticks of Spencer Cranley and Luc Amat. Ethan Boutillier would add insurance before they played a more defensive third frame.

Starting Friday, they will first face Niagara-on-the-Lake and South Muskoka in the twelve team tournament of the Tier 1 OMHA Finals.

-Meanwhile, the U15 Stars, also preparing for their OMHA Playoff Weekend in Barrie, defeated Norwood 6-1, in an exhibition road game. They spotted their hosts a goal before tallying twice in each period. The goal scorers were Luc Asselstine (two), Kohen Cutler (two), Callen Wilson, and Devon Robinson with the winner. Again, the Napanee squad were the winners of the Tier 1 playoffs while Norwood were tops in Tier 2.

Napanee will play St. Mary’s, Ingersoll and Lindsay in the round robin part of their eight team tournament beginning on Friday, April 7.
