Peewee Stars reach Silver Stick semifinals in Cobourg

The Napanee Country Butcher Shop Peewees played in the Northumberland Silver Stick held in Cobourg on the weekend. They reached the semifinals, losing 3-2 to Peterborough. The locals had defeated Peterborough 3-1 to start the tournament, and earned a 3-2 win over Niagara-on-the-Lake and a 2-2 tie with Woodstock.

-In similar form, the Calderwood Automation Bantams also made the semis in the Ottawa Capital Mid-Season Showdown, losing 3-0 to Oshawa. They, too, had defeated Oshawa earlier 3-2, but lost 4-0 to Stittsville, and tied Akwesasne 4-4. In the tie, Spencer Cranley had a pair while Luc Amat and Cameron Pearson chipped in singles. In the Oshawa win, Cranley, Daniel Chase and Gavin Brooks found the back of the net for the locals.

-In league action, the AFW Construction Atoms got past Bancroft 5-3 on the road. Trailing by one in the early going, Colton Lockridge scored twice while Cooper Seaton, Jack Sutton and Ben Kerr each had singles. Earlier, Kerr, Seaton, and Collen Wilson each had hat tricks in a 14-3 mauling of Gananoque.

-The Windoorman Midgets slipped by Prince Edward County 2-1 at the Strathcona Paper Centre. Jacob Boutilier tallied from Marshall Maracle, while Ethan Martin also scored, assisted by Tyler Brady and goalie, Emerson Kennelly.

-The Conger Plumbing Atom AEs had a double header Saturday, losing 13-1 in Campbellford, and 11-5 in Otonabee. The lone goal in Game 1 was scored by Liam Mulder. In the night-cap, Aiden Lollar and Nathan Zwiers each scored twice, while Mulder added a single.
