Cranking out 21 runs in their first game, the Napanee Peewee Express flipped that number to post an equally impressive 12 runs in their second game to go 2-0 in Sunday’s action in Saskatoon.

Those wins run the Express’ record to 3-1 at the U14 Boy’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship.

Napanee needed just four innings to score 21 runs for a mercy rule victory over the Prairie Pride.

Jack Madden drove in five, Ethan Sutcliffe knocked in three and Ty Kemp drove in a pair. Ethan Tombs threw three shutout innings while Brandon Barker closed it out with a scoreless fourth.

Napanee’s second contest of the day was a little more climactic, as they went back-and-forth with BC’s Terrace Grizzlies before scoring nine times in their final two at-bats to secure a 12-6 victory.

BC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. Napanee got one back in their half of the inning, but saw the Grizzlies pull away with three in the third. Napanee continued to chip away, scoring two in the fourth to pull within one.

BC tacked on a run in the top of the fifth but Napanee responded with four in their half of the inning and five more in the sixth. Sutcliffe had three RBI while Barker had two. Luke Paul and Kaden Fowler each drove in a run as part of the five run sixth.

Tombs picked up the win, striking out 10 over four innings.

Napanee will close out round robin play tomorrow when they face Chatsworth at 4 p.m. followed by the Prince Albert Astros at 10 p.m., all times Eastern.
