Peewee BB Stars win McGarvey Memorial, Atom BB, Bantam BB reach finals

At the Andy McGarvey Memorial Tournament, the Napanee Country Butcher Shop Peewee BBs went undefeated to win the peewee division, including a 4-1 victory over Charlan, a team out of Williamtown, east of Cornwall. Blake Wood, Tie Wood, Owen Dwyer, and Mason Goodfellow found the net for Napanee in the final.  As well, several players had exceptional games, as they collectively scored 26 goals while allowing just two. Goalie Aidan Difazio earned three shutouts. Earlier they defeated Syracuse 11-0, South Muskoka 2-1. Syracuse 7-0, and Charlan 2-0.

The AFW Construction Atom BB Stars also made it to the final by virtue of wins over Loyalist 2-1, South Grenville 6-2 and 1-0, while tying Lindsay 1-1. In the final, they could only muster one goal, losing 2-1 to Lindsay. Colton Lockridge earned the lone goal for Napanee.  The game was tied until a Lindsay forward, open in the slot, buried the winner with 4:06 left. Carter Cork played well in net, allowing only six goals in five games.

The Calderwood Automation Bantam BBs were also Finalists in the bantam division. In the final, the locals were down a goal to South Muskoka when Jake Wood was able to slide the puck under the netminder to tie it at one apiece. A shot gloveside eluded Napanee goalie Sam Rickard, before Spencer Cranley banked one off a defender from deep in the corner. Late in the second, a failure to clear the zone led to the winner by South Muskoka. Napanee outshot their opponents 28-21. Earlier, Napanee shut out Caledonia 3-0 and Laval 6-0. South Muskoka defeated Napanee by an identical 3-2 score both in the final and in round-robin. To reach the final, Napanee won a semifinal match 8-2 over Laval.

The Conger Plumbing Atom AE Stars faced Newcastle in the Consolation game, hoping to avenge their earlier loss to Newcastle, and they won 3-2 in dramatic fashion. With 30 seconds left and the scored tied at two, Jadon McNamee notched a goal to win the contest for a third place finish. Jacob Lyons tallied twice to set up the win. In round robin action, they had lost to Belleville 6-2, and Newcastle 3-1 before defeating Canterbury 8-3. Belleville won the semifinal 3-1 over Napanee.
