The United Restaurant/Allegiance General Contracting Atom B Crunch were champions at the Barrie Sharkfest tournament this past weekend.

Last second heroics were the name of the game for Lexa Lazarakos. She scored several last second goals for her team through the quarter-finals, semifinals and finals.

The Crunch beat the Orillia Hawks, 3-1 in the quarter-finals. Ruby Marlow opened the scoring assisted by Aven Trickey. Lazarakos scored with 19 seconds left in the second period assisted by Norah McGuinness and Claire Jarmin. Lazarakos scored with 48 seconds left in the third as well.

The Crunch faced a tough opponent in the semis in the South Huron Sabres. The Crunch came out of the first period, up 1-0 on a goal by Brooklyn Prevost from Lazarakos. Then, with two seconds to go in the game, Lazarakos scored again.

This setup the finals between the Crunch and the Mooretown Lady Flags. -The Bantam BB Crunch won both road games this weekend. They travelled to Ajax on Saturday to play the Durham West Lightning. The Lightning started out the game with a pair of goals in the first period and looked like they were on their way to victory. Claire McConnell found the back of the net on a power-play goal to tie it. Lila Pringle buried her second of the game to put the Crunch in the lead for the first time. Kristen Sutton turned the puck over at the Crunch blue line and made a couple of moves to get past the forwards and go in on the defense. She then made a couple of more moves leaving the defence in the dust, before burying the puck over the shoulder of the goalie. Assists went to Taryn Landine (two), Abby Birdsell and Sutton. Aleaha Mallette was solid in goal for the win.
