The Napanee Country Butcher Shop Peewee BBs earned a split in semifinal playoff games after a weekend trip to Midland, and now lead the six point series 5-3.

On Saturday, Tie Wood was a one man wrecking crew, in on all of Napanee’s scoring as they won 3-2.  He set up Owen Kish to take an early lead in the first. Seconds later, he made it 2-0 with an assist by Dylan Kemp.  Their hosts would tally a pair in the second frame, before Wood would get the winner, scoring three seconds into a power play early in the third. Mason Goodfellow earned an assist, and Joaquin Murray got the win in net.

On Sunday, they lost Game 4 by, a score of 3-1. Wood again had the hot hand scoring a power play tally late in the game, assisted by Goodfellow. Game 5 is Saturday at 3:30 at the Strathcona Paper Centre.

-The Calderwood Automation Bantam BBs split weekend games to begin their semifinal series with Huntsville. On Saturday, the boys got off to a slow start with a lot of the play in the defensive zone early on. The Otters would knock in a rebound later in the period, but Spencer Cranley would reply in the second on a fine 2-on-1 passing play with Jack Osborne. They repeated the feat late in the period, this time off the stick of Osborne. Luc Amat earned two assists. Early in the third, their guests would score, in a rather loosely played period, and Huntsville got the 3-2 winner with under four minutes left. The locals outshot the Otters 30-20.

In Sunday’s feisty game, Cranley scored first in a mad scramble on the power-play. Cranley got his second, the winner, on the power-play taking a pass from Brooks. Aaron Storms would chase down a roller to slide it under the net-minder. On similar plays, Cameron Pearson tipped Anthony Nugent’s point shot, and Storms redirected Brooks’ bullet to ensure the 5-1 win. Shots favoured the Stars 27-14.

Sam Rickard was between the posts in both games. Game 3 is in Huntsville Friday night.
