Peewee BB Stars continue to dominate with 5-1 win over PEC Kings

The Napanee Peewee BB Stars continued their domination of their opposition with a 5-1 win over Prince Edward County Saturday in Wellington, their twenty-eighth straight win in league and playoff games. Game 3 of their best-of-five series was rescheduled to Wednesday night. No results were available at press time.

-The Napanee Cab Midgets, after a layoff bye of a few weeks, were shutout 2-0 by Prince Edward County. They will hope to get back on the winning track on Saturday in Wellington, and they return home Sunday at 7:30 p.m. for Game 3.

-The Calderwood Automation Peewee AE Stars were full measure in their 5-2 win over Elmvale on Saturday.  Nic Lamarche, Duncan Clark and Jayden Holden scored in the first two periods to build up a solid lead. Elmvale came out strong in the third with two of their own before Cameron Pearson got a short handed goal, and Holden found the empty net to clinch the victory. Ben Buxton was effective in net, and Caleb South earned three assists.

On Sunday, the Stars needed overtime to edge Elmvale 4-3. Holden scored in the first, but their guests came back with three consecutive tallies. Jack Osborne and Lamarche each chipped in goals to take it to overtime. It took over six minutes of back-and-forth play before Lamarche got the winner, set up by Caleb South, his third assist of the afternoon. They travel to Elmvale on the weekend having earned four of the six points they need to advance.

-The Joyce’s Meats & Deli Atom AEs opened their series with Collingwood by edging their guests 3-2 in a penalty-free contest. Jacob Cox picked up a loose puck and drove it home in the first. In the second, in the last minute of play the locals hit a post, put one over the crossbar, and had one roll by the post, but it remained 1-1 going into the third frame. Ben Szuch lobbed one toward the net, and it was mishandled by the netminder to put the Stars ahead, but Collingwood scored the equalizer on a fine two-on-one play. With 2:17 remaining, Sam McCaw slid the puck out of the corner where Sophie Fraser found it in the blue ice of the crease. She netted the winner.

 Sunday, was much different as the Atom AEs scored 11 goals in a dominant 11-0 win. Goal scorers were Sam McCaw (3), Nate Vanberkel (2), Drew Osborne (2), Scott Scrimshaw (2), Sophie Fraser and Evan Gaffney.

-The Novice AFW Construction Stars breezed past Gananoque 7-1 on Saturday at the SPC. Goal scorers were Colton Lockridge (2), Oliver Kimmett (2), Wyatt Whalen, Wesley Davey, and Keagan York. Ben Kerr had two assists.

Sunday was a tighter 3-1 win over Prince Edward County. Kimmett netted a buzzer beater as period one ended. Peyton Brooks broke in alone as a delayed penalty was about to be called to make it 2-1. Zachary Wilde did the rest of the damage on a harmless looking shot that just crossed the goal line. Ethan Sabramsky-Nicol gained both goaltending wins. They stand second in the seven team grouping.
