It was a double-bronze finish for the NDSS Golden Hawks alpine teams with both the boys and girls earning a medal at EOSSAA in the Level II division on Monday.

The competition was held in Renfrew.

Both teams qualified for EOSSAA with a strong showing at KASSAA on Thursday, where they also each placed third at the event held at Calabogie.

The girls captured third place overall with strong performances from Gabby Uens, Brianna Milligan, Nevaeh Chambers, Lyric Barkley, Kylie and Megan Morrow. Barkley also raced to a sixth place overall finish in the slalom event.

The boys team took third with amazing efforts by Owen Chapman, Mitchell Cook, Colby Staples, Dylan Lollar and Noah Rooney.

The men’s open division team stole KASSAA gold with Craig Leury capturing fourth in giant slalom and fifth in slalom. Jaxon Starbuck walked away with fourth in giant slalom and a bronze medal in slalom and Malcolm Isbester seized a bronze in giant slalom and gold in slalom.

It was a great showing for the NDSS alpine team, which is just in its second year.

They’ve already grown exponentially since their debut season when they had just three members.
