The Napanee Crunch Peewee Bs won the bronze medal at a tournament this weekend in Cambridge.

They went 1-2 in the round robin, beating North Bay, 3-1 and losing to Lambeth 5-4 and Hamilton, 4-1. In the quarter-finals, they played Gloucester. The Crunch had to do a bit of rallying as they were down 2-0 after one and 3-1 after the second. They battled back and tied the game with four minutes to go. They had a wide open net in the dying seconds of regulations, but couldn’t bury the puck. After that 3-on-3 overtime solved nothing, as did 2-on-2, resulting in a shootout. Navy Hill stopped all three shooters she faced with Emma Brummel scoring for Napanee moving them on to the semifinals. This was a rematch with Lambeth and Napanee lost 2-0, putting them in the bronze medal game. This featured another rematch, this time against Hamilton. Napanee went up 2-0 before Hamilton cut the lead to 2-1. Napanee answered to go up 3-1 with Hamilton scoring again. Napanee was running out of gas as Hamilton pulled their goalie for the final minutes but the Crunch held on to preserve the 3-2 victory and clinch the bronze.

-The Napanee United Restaurant Atom B Crunch won 1-0 against the Cold Creek Comets. Norah McGuiness had the lone goal assisted by Brooklyn Prevost and Suri Kelloway.

Napanee followed that game with a 2-2 against the Peterborough Ice Kats. Ryan DuChene and Prevost each had a goal with assists by Kailee Jacklin and Maddy Nugent.

–The Napanee Crunch Midget team won 3-1 over the Scarborough Sharks.

–The Napanee Crunch Peewee BBs were the LLFHL East Division regular season champions, with a record of 15-1-6 and only 10 goals against all season. This has earned them a bye for the first round of playoffs which start in two weeks.

On Saturday, they beat the Clarington Flames, 2-1.  Diana Wharton earned the win. Goals were scored by Hailey Lay and Claire McConnell with assists to Kristen Sutton and Brooklyn Alaver.
