Pair of drivers charged with impaired after motorcycle enters a ditch in Loyalist

On Oct. 6 at approximately 7 p.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 20 in Loyalist Township.  Investigation revealed that a motorcycle had entered a ditch and the driver left the scene to return later with a second driver in a pickup truck.

During the investigation officers utilized an Approved Screening Device (ASD) on both drivers.  Both drivers were taken to the L&A County Detachment for further testing. As a result a 54-year-old man of Kingston has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs; and,
  • Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit

The accused was further charged with fail to remain at the scene of a collision.

A 68-year-old of Loyalist Township was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs; and,
  • Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit

Both accused were released on an undertaking and both are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee  on Nov. 24. Their licences were suspended for 90 days and vehicles were impounded for seven days.
