The Museum of Lennox & Addington is back with a jam-packed Saturday for kids and adults.
On Nov. 5 the Museum will host the OWL Foundation for an engaging presentation on owl rescue and rehabilitation. After that, kids will have fun exploring an owl and bird themed inquiry table, in addition to making an owl activity booklet. The presentation will start at 10 a.m.
The Vineland-based OWL Foundation is a registered Canadian charitable organization that helps wild Canadian owls and other raptors that are injured or orphaned. The Foundation operates a rehabilitation centre located in the Niagara Peninsula, On.
Museum Kids takes place the first Saturday of every month at the Museum. The monthly activities are centred around the current exhibits the Museum has on display. Pre-registration is required and can be found by visiting the museum’s website www.countymuseum.ca. Alternatively, registration can be completed by calling the Museum or visiting the Museum in person.
In the afternoon, the Museum is offering a Heritage Arts Workshop for adults. Linda Fraser from the Garden Studio will teach attendees how to create owls out of air dry clay using several clay techniques. The end product will be a hanging piece of art comprised of three owls, beads, jute and drift wood. The workshop starts at 1 p.m.
Pre-registration and payment is required to attend this workshop. The fee for the workshop is $35 with all materials provided. It is best suited for ages 13 and older.
Spaces are limited for both the Museum Kids and Heritage Arts workshop. Those interested are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
