The Lennox & Addington OPP is warning the public of a recent increase in fraudulent phone calls attempting to impersonate the secretary of a local business.
With this scam, the victim receives a phone call from someone claiming to be the secretary of Glenn Lasher Home Comfort Service. The female then pressures clients into scheduling equipment maintenance appointments at their respective houses.
At this point, no financial details have been requested and no individuals have attended for the stated time slots.
The L&A County OPP is warning the public to be aware of these fraudulent phone calls and to report any concerning interaction to police at 1-888-310-1122. The OPP is further reminding the public to always be suspicious of phone calls that request money, and to never offer personal information or money over the phone.
