OPP nab pair of suspected impaired drivers over the weekend

Officers with the Napanee detachment of the OPP were dispatched to a possible impaired driver and motor vehicle collision on Friday afternoon.

A black Ford F-150 had backed into a vehicle and then struck a fire hydrant in the area of John Street and Market Square.

Officers were given description of the driver and the licence plate number of the vehicle that had fled the scene. The vehicle and driver were located in a residential area on the east side of the town of Napanee.

A 43-year-old Greater Napanee man was charged with impaired driving and failure to remain. He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to attend provincial court in Napanee on Aug. 7.

-On Saturday morning an officer with the Kaladar detachment of the OPP stopped a vehicle for failing to make a proper stop at the intersection of Skootamatta Lake Road and Highway 41.

The driver was given a roadside alcohol screening test and subsequently arrested for being over 80 mg.

A 57-year-old Addington Highlands man was charged with impaired driving and disobeying a stop sign.

He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to attend provincial court in Napanee on Aug. 7.
