OPP investigating a domestic assault in Napanee, suspect charged with attempted murder

On Jan. 1 at approximately 3 p.m., members of the Lennox & Addington OPP responded to a report of an assault with an edged weapon that had occurred earlier in the day at approximately 10 a.m.

Investigation revealed that on New Year’s Day around 5 a.m. a 52-year-old male suspect attended a residence in the town of Greater Napanee and uttered death threats and damaged a vehicle. The suspect then departed and returned to the residence at approximately 10 a.m where he then assaulted a 56-year old male with an edged weapon before leaving the scene.  The victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP have arrested and charged a 52 year old male of Greater Napanee with:

  • Attempt to commit murder
  • Aggravated assault
  • Two counts of mischief
  • Two counts of utter threats
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Fail to comply with undertaking

The accused was held for a bail hearing was scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Jan. 4.
