Chair of the Board for Old Hay Bay Church

On Sunday, Aug. 27 the Old Hay Bay Church will host its annual Pilgrimage Service, starting at 3 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to come early as the Board of Trustees are excited to share this summer’s restoration projects with visitors. They will be welcomed by a new sign announcing the date of the service. Park your vehicle on the east lawn and wander over to the cemetery, which has new gates and fencing.

When guests do enter the church they can sign guest book and step through one of the doorways and take in the splendor of the new plastering and painting in the interior. Once inside, the church’s new showcases provide guests with an opportunity to learn more about the church. Custodians and trustees will be there to chat as well. Items will be for sell by cash or cheque.

The board is pleased to welcome Rev. Rosemary Lambie, as their guest speaker. Lambie refers to herself as a child of the United Church. With a BA in Theatre, she spent 18 years in Congregational Development and was known to travel with a guitar in one hand and a coffee in the other.

She brings an understanding of rural and urban church life, in both English and French. In 2018, when the United Church transformed, Lambie accepted the challenge of working with three large regions, and their leadership teams, as the United Church adjusted to its new format. Her use of music and drama encouraged participation with all generations.

In November 2022, she retired to spent more time with her family, and enjoying time in the great outdoors.

Our liturgist for the Pilgrimage service is Rev. Phil Wilson.
