An event to celebrate harvest season while wrapping up the Hollow Square Market is set to take place Oct. 16 from 3-9 p.m. at 425 Main St. in Newburgh.

Known as Hollow’s Eve, the event promises to feature local food, art, music and more.

“I think that Newburgh in the past has been very lively and had a lot of social events and that kind of waned off in the last kind of decade,” said Francie Kennedy, one of the event organizers. “Really we are just trying to bring that back to the village and I think that the village has been very receptive to our market and this event coming up. We’re really excited that so many people not just in the village but in the township and the county have supported us through our markets and it looks like we’re going to have a good turnout for the Hollow’s Eve.”

A similar event was held in October 2019, which signified the start of the Hollow Square Market. After pausing in 2020 due to COVID-19, the market ran every two weeks throughout this summer. Hollow’s Eve, which organizers plan to make an annual event, serves as a celebration of sorts for a successful market season.

“This is essentially an extension of the market that we’ve been running throughout the summer,” said Alene Parr. “We have lots of local artisans, people who are doing jewelry, photography and art, clothing, candles, baking. We do have a produce vendors, people who do canned goods and we have cider.”

Members of the Napanee and District Skating Club will also be selling pumpkins to fundraise for the upcoming skate season.

Acoustic music will be performed throughout the afternoon culminating in a community bonfire in the evening.

“It’s going to be a nice, around the fire kind of cozy mellow night with cedar burning,” added Parr.

Vendor space is still available as well as space for those looking to host a fundraising event during Hollow’s Eve. For more information contact The Hollow Square Market on Facebook.

There is still another daytime market left before the close of the season set for Oct. 2, running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
