The NDSS Golden Hawks celebrated its top athletes from the 2017-18 season with their year end banquet on Tuesday.
Taking home the top award, the C.S. Froud Trophy for outstanding athletic performance, were Spencer Chatterton and Hayley Lambert.
Chatterton excelled in volleyball, basketball, badminton, tennis and baseball while Lambert was a leading contributor for NDSS’ volleyball, field hockey and rugby teams.

Jessica Brunner and Anna Baker shared the D.E. Thompson Award as the Grade 9 female athletes of the year. Brunner excelled in volleyball, track and field and soccer while Baker had a strong season in field hockey, ice hockey and soccer.

Ross Morrow was the Andy Egan recipient as the top Grade 9 male athlete.
Carter Free and Bailey Duncan took home the Eric Bartlett Award for best exemplifying an ongoing involvement in the Physical Education program.

Free also earned the new Excellence in Athletics Award after his standout track and field and cross country season. He’s set to compete in OFSAA this weekend for the 1500 and 3000 metres after winning gold at East Regionals.
Chatterton and Charlotte Elliott earned the Lou Somers Heart Award for their dedication, leadership and athletic spirit.
Maddy Uens, Elliott and Emma Chatterton earned the Athletic Council Award.
As for teams, NDSS had three clubs reach a KASSAA final: boys rugby, girls rugby and the gymnastic club.
