NDSS’ girls rugby team was set to play for the KASSAA crown yesterday afternoon against the top ranked La Salle Black Knights at Nixon Field.

Results weren’t known at press time, check www.NapaneeBeaver.ca for the latest update.

The Golden Hawk ladies were the only NDSS team to reach the finals this year as both the senior and junior boys were eliminated in the semifinals.

For the juniors, their run for KASSAA gold came to an end Tuesday, when they were shutout 38-0 by the first place Frontenac Falcons.

The juniors had wrapped up regular season play last Wednesday at home with a 34-14 defeat to the Regi Panthers. Matt Ruttan and Ross Morrow scored for the Hawks while Gord Russell kicked the lone convert.

The Hawks will have another shot at Regi tomorrow afternoon when they play for third place in a KASSAA Bowl game at Nixon Field.

NDSS’ seniors, who lost 38-5 in their KASSAA semifinal match back on May 15, will also play in a third place bowl game tomorrow afternoon. They will take on Frontenac at Nixon Field for third place.

NDSS topped the Falcons 17-14 in their previous meeting.
