NDMH season gets underway as Stars rout Jets in exhibition play

The Napanee and District Minor Hockey season has begun. The tryouts for Rep(resentative) hockey are completed, practices have begun, the Eastern Ontario Minor Hockey League schedule is set, tournament applications are in motion, and the players are settling into their positions. The local league for house league players is holding skate sessions, player evaluations, and developing teams. All is readying for game action.

The Napanee U15 Stars hosted the Loyalist squad in an exhibition contest on Saturday humbling, them 10-1. At the 5:24 mark of the first, Ben Kerr scooped up a loose puck at centre, nimbly moved around a defender, and fired a low shot into the twine. Brock Boutilier, just 16 seconds later, went high to score the winner. Soon after, Callen Wilson made a pass from behind the net to Wesley Davey wide open in front. Boutilier made it 4-0 on a rebound, and Hudson Conger tallied on a shot coming from the point with 3.3 seconds left in the first. In the second frame, Kerr would add his second, Wilson scored on a snap shot, Jacob Lyons got his first, and Wilson notched another short handed. Loyalist got a rebound early in the third for their only tally, and Davey rounded out the scoring half way through the period. The Stars held a large margin in play outshooting the visitors 49-13.
