NDCC’s Open House Learn to Curl in honour of its 60th was held at the club last Sunday and had nine new curlers learning the game. In partnership with Canada Curling and their TryCurlingNow program, they were able to reach out to potential curlers through social media and The Napanee Beaver.

TryCurlingNo.ca is still active so anyone who missed Napanee’s open house can still find other area clubs hosting similar events.

The annual Continental Cup held Oct. 28 had the Blue team curling their best to try to take the trophy from the Yellow team, who were last year’s winners. Convenors Allan Wrigglesworth – Blue and Doug Pennell – Yellow, hosted a fun filled day starting with morning goodies by Sandy Semple and a delicious lunch by Sheila Pennell, Val Burgess and their helpers. This year’s winner was decided by a draw to the button as both teams were tied after their three games. The Yellow team came out victorious and therefore hold on to ‘bragging rights’ which they won last season.

NDCC’s annual Men’s Open is set for Saturday with a full slate of 16 teams and the Ladies Open is slated for Nov. 25, convened by Heather Ramshaw. The semi annual General Meeting will be Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. and will be immediately followed by a 60 years strong celebration event with wine and cheese.
