Kingston Literacy & Skills (KL&S) Napanee has announced the Getting Ahead partnership with the Town of Greater Napanee and Atura Power.
KL&S has received funding over two years to support training for local residents to enter or re-enter the workforce and become more financially independent.
“Our Getting Ahead and Soft Skills training is geared towards helping adults understand poverty and build resources to overcome their personal circumstances, while also building the necessary skills for pre-employment,” says Amanda Morrison, Program Manager of KL&S Napanee. “Successful participants who complete the training will receive a $260 bursary to be used to prepare for the job search.”
Training will take place in a small, in-person group setting at KL&S Napanee on Advance Avenue. The 13-week program is free for qualified participants. KL&S will offer the program to three cohorts of up to eight adults each in 2023 and four cohorts in 2024. The first cohort starts in April and is open for enrollment by contacting KL&S Napanee.
Kingston Literacy & Skills is an Employment Ontario project funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.
