For a second time this season Napanee’s Gracie Hearns has been named Durham College’s student-athlete of the week.

She plays catcher and outfielder for Oshawa’s Durham Lords women’s softball team. A second-year Interactive Media Design student, she earned a spot on the Championship All-Star team at the 2022 CCSA National Championship this past weekend where the Durham Lords placed fourth. Over six games, Hearns was 10-for-18 at the plate with a .555 batting averaging, recording three runs and two RBI. With a good eye, Hearns was walked twice and only struck out once.

The women’s softball team return to OCAA action on tonight, wrapping up their regular season in North York against the Seneca Sting with a doubleheader at 6 and 8 p.m.

Following that the Ontario College Athletic Association softball championships get underway Oct. 20-23 in London.
