Napanee OPP charge driver going 163 KM an hour on Hwy 401

An officer with the Napanee OPP stopped a black 2007 Honda Civic travelling at 163 km/h on the 401 near Wallbridge-Loyalist Road in Belleville around 11 p.m. on Tuesday night.

 The driver, a 31 year-old Toronto man, had his licence seized and the vehicle impounded for seven days. He was issued a summons for stunt driving and is scheduled to attend Provincial court at a later date.

-During an unrelated investigation, officers with the Napanee Crime unit of OPP gathered information that a 39-year-old Napanee woman and a 40-year-old Napanee man were involved in fraudulent activity. A subsequent investigation revealed that they were defrauding an elderly man of monies by issuing non-sufficient fund cheques, making and issuing fictitious invoices to obtain money from the same victim over a period of four and a half years. They were jointly charged with:

  • Fraud over $5,000
  • Obtaining by false pretence over $5,000
  • Use, deals acts on a forged document
  • Making a forged document

-On Wednesday, June 20 at 4:12 a.m. members of the Napanee OPP responded to a report of a fire at a residence on Upper Flinton Road, in Addington Highlands Township.

No one was injured in the fire, however police located marijuana in the residence. Napanee OPP along with the Community Street Crime unit of Napanee, Frontenac and Prince Edward County executed a controlled drugs and substances act search warrant at the residence.

Officers seized a large quantity of cannabis marijuana, ground marijuana and paraphernalia used to make cannabis resin.

A 38-year-old woman and 47-year-old man, both of Addington Highlands, were charged with:

  • Produce a Schedule II substance
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance – Cannabis marijuana over 30 grams
