Napanee man charged following single vehicle crash

On Aug. 20 at approximately 10:30 a.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a report of an erratic driver that was involved in a single motor vehicle collision on South Church Lane in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.

The vehicle entered and exited a ditch causing damage to the vehicle.  Police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Dundas Street near Green Street in Deseronto.

Officers determined that the driver was showing signs of impairment and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to Detachment for further processing by a Drug Recognition Expert Officer.

L&A County OPP have charged a 34-year-old of Greater Napanee with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Fail to comply with demand
  • Fail to surrender insurance card
  • Litter on highway
  • Fail to surrender permit
  • Fail to surrender licence
  • Glass G1 Licence holder unaccompanied by qualified driver

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Oct. 19. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
