An interim Napanee and District Chamber of Commerce (NDCC) board of directors will host an AGM on Feb. 27 at Drain-All, located at 444 Advance Ave. in Napanee.

The board, which was elected at a meeting held Jan. 31, has rescinded the decision of the previous board to suspend all operations of the NDCC, stating the model was no longer viable. A decision to cease operation of the NDCC had been announced last month with the original intent to take effect as of Feb. 1. For now the Chamber will forge ahead into its 25th year of operation. Those in attendance of the Jan. 31 meeting have expressed a desire to have the future of the NDCC more thoroughly designed by members and the overall business community in conjunction with the board of directors. Further discussion of the future of the NDCC will take place at next Thursday’s AGM.

“With a working board and an active membership, the current financial funds are viable enough to move forward under these particular conditions.” said interim NDCC president Ken Shurtleff. “ “The future is in the members of the business community’s hands and they can elect a board at the AGM to continue their vision.”

A non-profit business service organization, the NDCC serves its members by providing access to cost saving programs, opportunities to network with other business owners as well as participation in hands on activism with national, provincial and local partners.
