Drawing on inspiration from the winter Olympics, Napanee artist Sherry Pringle and her nine-year-old grandson Jackson created a series of unique works of pebble art.

Each day throughout the games they revealed their latest creation of pebble art on social media, featuring a different sport represented through a creative use of rocks. While sharing their photos, they encouraged friends and family to donate to Save the Children, a charity dedicated to supporting children affected by the Ukraine war. So far over $1,400 in donations have been made to their page https://savethechildren.akaraisin.com/ui/teamsave/pledge/sponsor/donation?pid=7564382.

For their final piece in the series they teamed with Washington, D.C. based family friends Zahra Batteh, (age 12), Stella Batteh, (age 10), Barrett Batteh, (age six) and Sarah Alkenbrack Batteh, along with Shelley Alkenbrack of Napanee, to create an international pebble masterpiece. Their create is currently on display at the Strathcona Paper Centre until March 25.

Sherry Pringle’s watercolour painting of a sunflower is currently up for auction at April’s Image. Proceeds will go to Save the Children.

Pringle is also raising money through a silent auction of a watercolour painting of a sunflower-the national flower of Ukraine. Bidding starts at $200 for the frame painting valued at $850. Its currently on display at April’s Image. Proceeds will go to Save the Children.
