Multiple impaired charges laid in L&A County

Members of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three drivers in impaired driving related investigations.

On Aug. 26 at approximately 9:30 p.m., an officer on general patrol located a vehicle parked on the shoulder of Deseronto Road.

The officer located the driver inside the vehicle. As part of the investigation, an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered, and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result a 56-year-old, of Cobourg, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On Aug. 27 at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a single motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Hwy 401 eastbound in Tyendinaga Township.

Officers attended the scene and discovered that the driver had fled on foot. OPP Canine Unit and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) responded and located the driver a short time later not far from the scene, and he was subsequently arrested.

As a result a 37-year-old, of Tyendinaga Township, Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On Aug. 28, 2022, at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Main Street in Odessa.

Officers responded to the area and located the vehicle. Officers spoke to the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result a 39-year-old, of Loyalist Township, Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

All accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee at a later date. Their licences were suspended for 90 days, and vehicles were impounded for seven days.
