Loyalist man accused of striking spouse with a car, SIU invokes mandate as suspect taken to hospital

On June 2, 2020 at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of the Lennox and Addington  OPP responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a home on County Road-4 in Loyalist Township.

The investigation found a female party had been struck by a vehicle, resulting in minor injuries. OPP officers and the OPP Canine Unit conducted a search of the area and arrested the male accused at approximately 11 p.m.

A 30-year-old male from Loyalist Township has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Assault with a weapon-spousal
  • Dangerous operation
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Four counts of failing to comply with a release order

As a result of an injury, the accused was transported to hospital for treatment and will be held for a bail hearing by video before the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee.

The OPP has notified the Province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate. As a result the OPP will not be able to provide any further information.
