Tamworth’s Royal Canadian Legion Branch 458 will be launching a new concert series later this month.

Starting on Oct. 21 they’ll welcome Rudy and Saddle Up to the stage for a night of dancing, with doors opening at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20.

On Oct. 28 it’ll be Jersey Nights-a tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Tickets are $65.

The music continues on Dec. 2 with the Hip Experience-a tribute to the Tragically Hip. Tickets for that show are $55.

After a short pause the series starts back up in the new year with Bywater Call (March 9), Shania Twin (April 6) and Forever Seger (May 11).

The Legion’s concert series takes the place of the popular music shows that was hosted by the Tamworth Erinsville Community Development Committee.

Along with the concert series, the Tamworth Legion also hosts fitoga classes (fitness mixed with yoga) on Tuesday and Fridays, a dancercize class on Wednesdays and darts on Thursdays.

I know in the past folks have a couple of images that come to mind when it comes to your Legion,” said Lisa Ross-Black, treasurer with the Tamworth Legion. “There’s the images where if you’re not a veteran, you’re not eligible to be a member. That’s no longer true…When we host a concert or that sort of thing, yeah there’s drinking, but children are welcome. If they want to come with their parents and they’re interested in that kind of music, we just do a wristband policy to note their note eligible for alcohol. They won’t be served, we watch all through the night to make sure they’re not holding anyone’s alcoholic beverage, but they’re welcome to come and visit us at the Legion.”

The Tamworth Legion is located at 714 Addington St. above the LCBO.
