According to an online survey filled out by parents and guardians, 90 per cent of Limestone District School Board students plan to return to in-class learning next week.

About 2,000 have opted for e-learning, of which 1,454 are elementary school aged while 545 are secondary school age.

LDSB communications officer Jane Douglas Charanduk says the numbers of the survey, which was completed last Friday, are pretty much the same as a similar survey conducted in June. It also mirrors the numbers reported by the Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic District School Board, which reported Monday morning that 90 per cent would be returning to in-class as well.

Hastings-Prince Edward District School Board reports 84 per cent will return to in-class learning.

LDSB elementary families will have another opportunity to determine their preferred method of learning around the middle of September.

Limestone and Algonquin’s numbers were significantly higher than some of Ontario’s largest boards. Nearly a quarter of students in the Ottawa, Toronto and Durham Region have indicated they will be choosing to learn from home if class sizes are not reduced.
