Limestone District and Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic School Boards respond to province’s release of back to school plans for September

The following is a press release from the Limestone District School Board:

The Ministry of Education released its school reopening guidelines on Tuesday. The document outlines how school boards will operate during the 2021-2022 school year.

Limestone District School Board staff are currently reviewing the document to finalize plans for September and how this will affect learning in Limestone. We know students and families have many questions and we are working on providing answers as quickly as we can following consultation with KFL&A Public Health.

We do know that students will return to daily in-person learning for the full school day  (except for students who have opted for Virtual School for 2021-2022), and that many safety protocols will remain such as daily screening for symptoms of COVID-19.

We will continue to work closely with public health and other community partners to ensure a safe return to in-person learning and minimize the spread of COVID-19.

We will share more information with students, families and staff in the coming days.

The Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic District School Board released this message:

Earlier today the Ontario Government provided guidance for schools, school boards and school authorities to operate during the 2021-2022 school year. We encourage all Parents/Guardians to read the guidance document in full to gain awareness and understanding around how school will function this coming September.

Based on advice from the Chief Medical Officer of Health, schools are permitted to open for in-person learning with health and safety measures in place for the 2021-22 school year.

The Director of Education will provide further communication to families during the upcoming week (Aug. 9) regarding the announcement and reopening guide.
