Lennox and Addington County Libraries will be offering some help with those New Year’s resolutions on Jan. 12 as they present an online seminar titled A Holistic Approach to Health for 2021.

Starting at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom, Jeff Cammaart of Zeal Holistic Health will lead the seminar that focuses on the benefits of practicing the eight essentials to vitality. Those include: breathe fully and calmly, be in nature frequently, maintain tall proud posture, move often based on energy levels, think positively and lovingly, sleep soundly and restoratively, drink ample water and eat a variety of whole natural foods.

“From that holistic approach we always try to incorporate some kind of component that offers a bit of a spiritual component or mental component or physical component,” said Cammaart. “We truly believe that everything is so intertwined. You can separate and focus on just one part, but if you focus on all three, you’re going to have far more success.”

The seminar will also include a short exercise program that highlight’s Zeal Holistic Health’s online classes.

While many are keen to make resolutions early in January, the desire to keep with them may start to fade by the middle of the month.

“I think it’s habits,” said Cammaart. “Your habits are so ingrained in your body and your mind. Like, okay, I’m going to give up chips. You’ve got the motivation and it’s there. The habits kick in after awhile and the motivation wanes and the habit drives back and you go and reach for the bag of chips. Or you don’t have enough support as often as you need it.”

Cammaart says the key is to look to a partner with similar goals to keep the drive going throughout the year. Another option is to search out like-minded people in social media groups.

To register for the Jan. 12 seminar, visit www.picktime.com/LandALibraries. No fitness equipment is required to take part in the seminar. It will close with a question and answer session and participants will be provided with copies of the eight essential to vitality and a home exercise program.

The online seminar is the latest in an ongoing series that the L&A Library have been offering. Though the library is closed to visitors at the moment, the seminars can be enjoyed from the comfort of home.

Cammaart, who co-owns Zeal Holistic Health, has over 20 years experience in the fitness and health industry.
