Key dates for the upcoming school year

Students may not want to hear it but the first day of the 2022-23 school year is fast approaching with classes set to resume Sept. 6.

Staff will actually be back a bit earlier for a professional activity day on Sept. 2, followed by the weekend and then a holiday for Labour Day on Monday with the first day for students on the Tuesday.

Both the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board and Limestone District School Board will host seven PA days throughout the year, starting with that Sept. 2 date. The others include Monday Sept. 26 and Monday Oct. 24 while the remaining dates fall on Fridays: Nov. 25, Feb. 3, June 2 and June 30.

The Christmas break begins Dec. 23 until Jan. 6. March Break will run March 13-17. Additionally the holidays of Thanksgiving (Oct. 10), Family Day (Feb. 20), Good Friday (April 7), Easter Monday (April 10) and Victoria Day (May 23) will also be observed.

Secondary school exam dates for both school boards will be Jan. 26-Feb 1 for the first semester and June 22-28 for the second semester.

The last day of class for elementary students will be June 29.
