I attended the L&A county council meeting on July 25 to support a new health care initiative. While the decision at that meeting fell a little short of what I had hoped, I came away from the meeting with great respect for that group of people who work on our behalf.
The councillors clearly took their duties seriously and they displayed a respect for the offices they held. The questions were insightful, and discussion was both respectful and wise. There were clearly differences of opinion on how to proceed, but those differences did not result in disrespect from either side of the issue.
It was another reminder of just how lucky we are to live where we do. Many thanks to this group of people who give up evenings for meetings, who stay informed, and who, in no small way, look after us.
