Down 3-0 just passed the halfway mark of the first period, the Napanee Raiders were forced to work a little overtime to pull out a 4-3 win Saturday night in Frankford.
Ryan Kidd scored less than two minutes into the extra fourth period to cap the comeback, assisted by Ben White.

Despite sitting fifth in the league and entering the game on an eight game losing streak, the Huskies continued their trend of giving the Raiders some of their toughest competition faced all season. On the season the Huskies have beaten the Raiders twice (accounting for a third of Napanee’s total losses this season) to go along with the latest match that required extra time. All told Napanee is 3-2-1 against the Huskies, who have just 15 wins in 39 games played.

Iain Brown, Kieran Ellis and Jakob Gardner each scored for the Huskies in the opening 12:24 of the game. That was enough to chase starter Bailey Maracle from the contest, who had just as many saves as he did goals allowed.

White got one back for the Raiders in the final five minutes of the frame. Napanee tied it up midway through the second with a pair of goals in under a minute, first from Michael Patrick, the second from Soren Zamuner.

Alex Zamuner earned the win in relief, stopping all 14 shots he faced. Hayden Candler took the loss with 32 saves on 36 shots.

Napanee will play their final home game of the regular season on Friday when they welcome the Campbellford Rebels to the SPC. Puck drop is 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday they’re back in Frankford to close out the regular season, once again against the Huskies.

Napanee has long sewn up the top seed in the division, now 34-5-1 on the year. Amherstview is second with 52 points and two games remaining. Picton is third with 46 and three left to play, Port Hope fourth with 43 points and two left to go.

The Huskies are fifth with 32 points and three left to play while the Campbellford Rebels have nine points and two games left in the regular season.
