Carter McKee and Spencer Cranley each recorded a hat trick to help pace the NDSS Golden Hawks boys’ hockey team to an 11-1 victory over the Ernestown Eagles Wednesday at the SPC.

The victory made for a fine way for the Hawks to kick off the KASSAA season.

Luke Jarmin got the scoring started for the Hawks with a wrist shot that found the back of the net early in the first.

Ethan Boutillier doubled the lead after spinning around an Eagles defender and skating in alone to score. Cranley picked up his first of the game by converting on a juicy rebound in front of the net to build a 3-0 lead.

Napanee put the game out of reach in the middle frame with seven goals in the 15-minute span. Jack Osbourne got the scoring going with a power-pay goal before Cranley and McKee alternated goals. Ty Kemp added one for Napanee to push the lead to 9-1 before Cranley and McKee each potted one more. Cranley finished the game with a team high four goals.

Blake Wood scored the lone goal for Ernestown, breaking the shutout in the second period.

NDSS’ girls’ hockey team also started their season off with a resounding win, blanking the Regi Panthers 9-0 at the Invista Centre.

On the volleyball court the Golden Hawks girls’ team pushed the Kingston Secondary School Bears to the limit, but ultimately came up short with a 3-2 loss.

NDSS’ senior team was swept in three sets.
