The Mighty Docs Family Health Organization with multiple offices on Bridge Street in Napanee is pleased to welcome Dr. Victoria Candy to the community as a new family physician. A new physician in this group will provide support and care for residents that do not currently have a primary care provider and alleviate some of the strain on the Emergency Room at the Lennox & Addington County General Hospital.
Dr. Candy completed her undergraduate degree in Life Sciences and her Master’s degree in Pathology and Molecular Medicine at Queen’s University. She completed medical school at Western University before returning to Queen’s University for her Family Medicine residency training. During her residency, she completed much of her training in Napanee, including rotations in Family Medicine, Hospitalist, and the Emergency Room. Since graduation, Dr. Candy has worked in Napanee covering family medicine clinics and has worked at Queen’s Student Health. She is excited to continue providing healthcare to the Napanee community as a Family Physician and Hospitalist at the Lennox & Addington County General Hospital.
The onboarding of a new family physician in Napanee has been made possible through peer-to-peer recruitment. This is an effective and efficient strategy for family medicine that focuses on building teams, leveraging inherent trust, credibility, and authenticity between peers to aid in the recruitment process. This strategy has been relied on and been a key success factor in our community over many years.
Dr. Candy began her new role with the Mighty Docs Family Health Organization on Feb. 5. Additional information about registering to be a patient with Dr. Candy will be released in the near future. In the meantime, residents without a primary care provider are encouraged to register through Health Care Connect by phone at 1-800-445-1822 or online at https://hcc3.hcc.moh.gov.on.ca.
