With light snow falling and moderate temperatures, everything was perfect for this year’s annual Greater Napanee Winter Chill Festival on Saturday, Feb. 1, and the result was a great crowd of people of all ages coming to enjoy the fun.

The free event, held at the North Fred Lifestyle Centre, was highlighted by children’s entertainer John Park, the Comedy Waiter. His traditional plate spinning, once a staple of early TV variety shows and circus performances, was new to many members of the audience, and delighted everyone as he tried to keep all the plate spinning at once.
Other popular parts of the Winter Chill Festival, which was organized by Town of Greater Napanee employees Lindsay Tee and Kelsey Pearson, included wagon rides, a climbing wall, face painting, craft tables and a big mountain of snow that many children and parents scrambled over. The Lennox and Addington Library held story time and Lego fun. And to keep everyone fueled for all these adventures, there were free hot dogs and popcorn, and the Greater Napanee firefighters held a marshmallow roast.
While the festival has been running for several years, this was the first time it took place at the recently refurbished North Fred Lifestyle Centre.
