On April 26 at 7 p.m. Friends of the Salmon River presents will present their final online instalment of their winter speaker series: From the Heiltsuk Nation: Combating climate change and colonialism through land-based healing and education online with Jess Housty.

Housty (Háust̓i) is a mother, writer and land-based educator who lives in her unceded ancestral homelands in Bella Bella. She can teach a lot about social and environmental justice.
Housty is the executive director of Qqs (Eyes) Projects Society, a Heiltsuk charitable non-profit that supports their youth and families through community and cultural programming. She is active in community organizing and food systems resiliency.
This presentation promises to be a fascinating glimpse of how Indigenous people are re-claiming their valuable heritage through the eyes of an energetic speaker.
