Finn Barton’s strong start leads U15 Express to 8-2 win over Spartans at Canadians in Wilmot

Napanee’s U15 Express faced the St. George Spartans in their second game at the Canadian Championships in Wilmot, On on Wednesday afternoon winning 8-2 to improve to 2-0.
With Finn Barton on the mound, the Express continued to play good defense and were steady at bat. In the third inning, the express scored three runs. Owen Kish led off with a double, followed by a Jacob Moore triple and a walk by Barton. Deke Osterhout then scored Barton on a sharp hit ball that hand cuffed the shortstop and he beat out the throw at first. In the fifth inning, Tivon James started the inning with a single followed by an Osterhout single and Dylan Kemp brought them home with a bomb of a home-run.
Kemp threw the sixth and seventh to close out the game for an 8-2 victory.

Napanee will take on the Chatsworth Longhorns this morning at 9:15 a.m. and then play the Tara Twins at 1 p.m.
