Fake gun prompts OPP charge

A 42-year-old man has a court date later this month to answer to charges stemming from an incident on Friday.

Officers from the Napanee OPP detachment responded to a 911 call in Stone Mills Township. According to the police, a pizza delivery man had attended at a residence in the township; when he arrived he was invited inside the residence where a male pointed a firearm at him. The victim left the residence and contacted police.

The home was searched and police located an imitation firearm within the residence. A 42-year-old male Stone Mills resident was arrested at scene. The man was charged with possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was later released on a promise to appear with a first appearance date of Oct. 31, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee.

Updated at 1:22 p.m., Oct. 10 to reflect correction made by OPP to original police report. The accused is a 42-year-old male, not a 19-year-old male.
