Connor Brooks contributed at the plate and from the pitcher’s circle to help the Napanee AFW Express to an 8-2 victory over the Prince Albert Astros in a battle of undefeated teams at the U19 Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship this afternoon in Napanee.

Brooks tripled in a pair of runs in the first inning and singled in a run in the fifth to put the Express up 4-2. Cal Doyle also drove in a pair with two singles. Ethan Winter and Brendan Hagerman each picked up an RBI.

Brooks closed out the game with four no-hit innings, taking over for Tye Boyd who started the game, allowing two runs, one earned, over three innings. Brooks struck out six Astros over the final four innings.

With the win the host Express team is now 5-0 and the only team in the field of 12 yet to lose a game.

They’ll look to remain perfect this evening when they take on the Delisle Poly Plus Pride tonight at 8 p.m.

They’ll wrap up round robin play tomorrow with games at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
