Express showcase gap-to-gap power in 11-1 victory over Shellbrook Rangers

The host Napanee AFW Express pounded out 15 hits, five of them for extra bases, as they rolled to an 11-1 victory over Saskatchewan’s Shellbrook Rangers tonight in their second game of the U19 Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championships.

The Rangers jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first before the Express answered back with two in the second, two in the third and seven in the fourth to clinch the victory.

Finn Pierce had three RBI while Tucker Firth and Connor Brooks each drove in a pair. Alex Li and Brendan Hagerman each cashed in one. Brooks found the gap twice for a pair of triples while Firth also had a three-bagger.

Riley Manion picked up his second win of the tournament with 3.2 innings, striking out eight on the way.

Napanee is now off to a 2-0 start at the tournament. They’re scheduled to take on the Colchester Royals tomorrow morning at 11 a.m., followed by the Caledonia Haldimand Athletics at 8 p.m.
