Driver charged with impaired after colliding with another vehicle

Officers of the Lennox and Addington OPP charged one driver with impaired driving after a two vehicle collision.

On Jan. 15 shortly after 10 p.m., L&A OPP responded to a two vehicle collision on Dundas Street West at Cherrywood Parkway in Greater Napanee. When police arrived, Paramedic Services were already on scene treating the drivers for minor injuries. The collision was between a sedan and a hatchback. The lone male driver of the hatchback was arrested for impaired driving and brought back to the police detachment for testing.

As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged a 46-year-old of Frankford with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Jan. 30, 2024. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Lennox & Addington County OPP Detachment Commander Dave Tovell is reminding people, “By calling 911 and reporting suspected impaired drivers to police, you play a role in keeping our roads, trails, and waterways safe. Keeping our roads safe is everyone’s responsibility. Together police and community can have a significant impact in reducing incidents of impaired driving and bringing to justice those who have no regard for public safety.”
